Troubleshoot before installing

Check why your Choicer Voicer Dub Pack is not working

If a Choicer Voicer Dub Pack does not appear in the game, the problem is often the Pack’s folder structure, a missing required file, or installing the wrong folder. The Checker inspects your ZIP archive or extracted Pack folder directly in your browser and turns common problems into clear next steps.

  • Confirm that the selected files look like a Choicer Voicer Dub Mode Pack.
  • Find an extra wrapper folder and identify the actual Pack root to install.
  • Check for dub_video, audio clips, captions, and companion files.
  • Review duplicate paths, unsafe paths, empty media, and readable metadata.
  • See which folder belongs in the game’s packs_voice directory.

Your files stay on your device. No Pack contents are uploaded to this website or Cloudflare R2 while the check runs.

Common installation issues

Common Choicer Voicer Dub Pack problems

A downloaded Pack can look normal in Windows Explorer but still fail to appear inside Choicer Voicer. These are the problems the Checker is designed to explain.

1. The wrong folder was installed

A ZIP may contain an extra folder around the real Pack. For example:

My-Pack.zip
└─ My-Pack
   └─ My-Pack
      ├─ dub_video.ogv
      ├─ clip01.ogg
      └─ clip01.txt

The Checker identifies the recognized Pack root and tells you which folder to move into packs_voice.

2. The required dub_video asset is missing

A file named video.mp4 is not automatically treated as the Dub Mode video. The Checker reports the missing basename instead of guessing which video the game should use.

3. More than one Dub video is present

A Pack should have one expected dub_video asset. Duplicate special files can make the intended scene ambiguous, so the Checker flags them for review.

4. Audio clips and companion files do not match

Dub Packs commonly keep an audio clip with same-stem files such as line_01.ogg, line_01.txt, and line_01.png. The Checker reports missing companions, duplicate audio stems, unknown companion formats, and unreadable text metadata.

5. The archive contains unrelated or nested files

Some downloads contain another ZIP, several unrelated top-level folders, or packaging files that are not the actual Pack. The Checker explains the structure it can recognize instead of reducing every case to “invalid ZIP”.

Supported checks

What does the Dub Pack Checker check?

The current version focuses on common installation and structural problems rather than trying to reproduce every internal rule used by the desktop game.

01

Pack structure

Recognizable Dub Mode root, wrapper folders, nested archives, flattened files, duplicate paths, and unsafe paths.

02

Dub Mode assets

dub_video, optional _backing_track, pack_info, and duplicate special assets.

03

Clips and captions

Audio clip detection, same-name companions, duplicate audio stems, caption files, and multiline captions.

04

Text and metadata

Readable text, UTF-8 and common BOM encodings, malformed metadata, empty captions, and basic Pack information.

05

Media files

Known extensions, basic signatures where available, zero-byte media, and media metadata when the browser can read it.

06

Clear result states

Plain-language valid, warning, needs-fix, and unsupported results with exact paths and repair steps.

Browser playback and Choicer Voicer desktop compatibility are not the same thing. A video that cannot be previewed by your browser is not automatically marked as incompatible with the game.

Four quick steps

How to check a Choicer Voicer Pack

  1. Choose the input. Select the original ZIP archive, or choose the extracted folder. For a RAR archive, extract it with 7-Zip first.
  2. Read the result. Start with the status, detected Pack root, file summary, and the most important findings.
  3. Fix the reported paths. Keep the complete Pack folder together, preserve clip companions, and remove duplicate or unsafe entries.
  4. Install and launch Dub Mode. Move the corrected Pack folder to the Windows directory below, restart the game, select Dub Mode, choose the Pack, and click Start.

Windows installation

Where should I install a Dub Pack?

Install the complete extracted Pack folder inside the game’s packs_voice directory. Do not move only dub_video or individual clip files into the directory.

%APPDATA%\YeahMaybe\ChoicerVoicer\game\packs_voice

The final layout should look like packs_voice/My Dub Pack/dub_video. If the game does not detect the Pack, follow the Pack Not Showing troubleshooting guide, then use the complete Dub Pack installation guide and the game’s Modpack Guides → Dub Mode Packs → Open Folder shortcut.

Troubleshooting checklist

Why is my Choicer Voicer Pack not showing up?

If the Pack is missing from the game after installation, check these items first:

  1. Make sure the archive was fully extracted when required.
  2. Install the actual Pack folder, not an outer wrapper folder.
  3. Confirm that the Pack contains the required Dub Mode assets.
  4. Make sure files were not moved into another nested folder.
  5. Check for duplicate or incorrectly named special files.
  6. Restart Choicer Voicer after copying the Pack and select Dub Mode.

The fastest way to narrow this down is to run the Pack through the Checker above, then compare the detected Pack root with the folder you installed.

Archive and format notes

Should I put the ZIP directly into Choicer Voicer?

Usually, no. Pay attention to the complete folder contained inside the archive rather than assuming that the downloaded ZIP itself is the Pack.

download.zip
└─ Actual Pack
   ├─ dub_video.ogv
   ├─ audio files
   └─ metadata

In this example, Actual Pack is the folder to install. RAR extraction is not performed in the browser Checker: extract a .rar file with 7-Zip or Windows first, then choose the extracted folder. A RAR file should not be treated as a broken ZIP.

Understand the result

What do the Checker results mean?

No obvious problems found

The Checker did not find a blocking structural or metadata problem. This does not guarantee that every part of the Pack will work in every version of Choicer Voicer.

Looks usable, but has warnings

The Pack has no obvious blocking error, but an optional asset or unusual arrangement is worth reviewing.

Pack needs a fix

A likely recognition or installation problem was found. Follow the exact file and folder steps in the result.

Unsupported

The selected file type cannot currently be inspected, such as a RAR archive that has not been extracted.

Private by design

Your Pack stays on your device

Choicer Voicer Packs can contain custom audio, video, and creator-made content. The Dub Pack Checker reads only the information needed for its supported local checks. It does not upload Pack contents to our server or Cloudflare R2, and it does not install or rewrite files.

Pack Checker FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Choicer Voicer Dub Pack not show up?

Common causes include installing the wrong folder level, missing the required dub_video asset, duplicate special files, or an unrecognized Pack structure. Run the Pack through the Checker to see which Pack root and problems are detected.

How do I check if a Choicer Voicer Pack is valid?

Choose the ZIP file or extracted Pack folder above. The Checker analyzes its structure locally and reports errors, warnings, file counts, and installation information.

Are my Pack files uploaded?

No. The checker reads the selected archive or folder locally in your browser. Pack files, filenames, and check details are not uploaded to this website.

Can I check a Pack before installing it?

Yes. Checking a downloaded or custom Pack first can identify structural problems before you copy it into the game directory.

Can I check an extracted folder instead of a ZIP?

Yes. If your browser supports folder selection, choose the extracted Pack directory directly. This is also the recommended way to check a RAR archive after extracting it.

Can I check a RAR archive?

RAR extraction is not performed in the browser checker. Extract the RAR with 7-Zip or Windows first, then choose the extracted folder so the checker can inspect its files.

Will the checker fix or install my Pack?

No. It explains what needs attention and shows the correct Windows installation folder. After fixing the Pack, move its complete folder into ChoicerVoicer\game\packs_voice and restart the game.

What file is required for a Dub Mode Pack?

A Dub Mode Pack must contain one file with the basename dub_video. Voice clips and their same-name text or metadata companions should remain together. A _backing_track is optional.

Does the Checker fix broken Packs automatically?

Not currently. The Checker identifies problems and explains how to fix them. Automatic local repair and corrected ZIP generation are separate future features.

Does the Checker convert MP4 to OGV?

No. Media conversion is separate from Pack validation. The Checker can report supported media information, but it does not transcode video.

Does a successful check guarantee the Pack will work?

No. The tool focuses on common Pack structure, asset, and metadata problems. A successful check does not guarantee compatibility with every Choicer Voicer version or desktop media codec.
